baucord

Terms of use

Last updated 9 October 2026

baucord is a free, open-source app for voice chat, text chat and screen sharing, made by 0x0 Studios ("we" below). These terms apply to the baucord apps and to the official baucord server that we run. By using the apps — connecting to a server — you agree to them.

Anyone can run their own baucord server. A server someone else runs has its owner's rules too, on top of these; its owner moderates it, and we do not control what happens there.

In short

Who can use baucord

You must be at least 18 years old. Do not use baucord if you are younger. If we learn that an account on the official server belongs to a child, we delete it.

What is not allowed

On every server, in chat, direct messages, files, pictures, names, avatars, voice and screen shares:

Reporting and blocking

In the app, right-click a message or a person (on a phone, press and hold a message, or tap the person) and choose Report. The report reaches that server's moderators with the message as it was; the person is not told who reported them. Choose Block to stop seeing their messages and hearing them; they can no longer send you direct messages, and they are not told. Settings → Profile lists the people you blocked.

On the official server we review reports and act on them — removing content, muting, kicking or banning — and contact the authorities when someone is in danger or the law requires it. You can also write to [email protected]. On other servers, their moderators decide.

Your content

What you post stays yours, and you are responsible for it. You let the server you post to store it and pass it on to the people you send it to, which is what the app is for. You can delete your recent messages, and your whole account (below). The privacy policy says what a server keeps and for how long.

Moderation and ending

The moderators of a server may remove content, mute people, or remove them from the server, for breaking these terms or the server's own rules. We may do the same on the official server and may end any account there that breaks these terms. You can stop using baucord at any time and delete your account on a server from the app.

The software

The apps and the server are open source under the Apache License 2.0. They are built on other open-source software, each part under its own license (open-source licenses); the desktop builds include FFmpeg and x264, which are under the GNU GPL, so those builds as a whole are distributed under the GNU GPL version 3. They and the official server are provided as they are, without warranty of any kind; we are not liable for what people post or do with them, or for losses from using them, as far as the law allows.

Changes

When these terms change, this page shows the new text and the date at the top changes. Connecting after that means you agree to the new text; the app's connect screen always links it.
